The English Premier League kicked off the new season last weekend. In London, Tottenham won 3-0 against Burnley. Armando Broja stayed in for the visitors. The international striker joined Burnley just a week ago and is not yet ready to play in the Premier League, given his fitness.

It was coach Scott Parker who spoke after the match and when asked about Broja, he indicated that the striker still needs to get back into his playing form. Not wanting to risk him due to injuries, Parker left the 23-year-old Albanian at home.

"He just needs a bit more work. Broja hasn't had enough time to get going in the Premier League so we need to tread carefully and prepare him. I don't want to rush him and he would be vulnerable to anything here. Plus, he's just coming into the team now, you probably need to be physically at your optimum for the game. We'll do a bit of work on him. He was out for this game and he's done some extra work during that time so hopefully we'll see where we are next weekend with him," Parker said of Broja.

Broja wasn't the only one missing on Saturday, with the likes of Axel Tuanzebe, Bashir Humphreys, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts all missing, as well as Zeki Amdouni, who has been out for some time. Hannes Delcroix, Manuel Benson and Ashley Barnes were also absent, along with Luca Koleosho and Mike Tresor; with the latter two causing much debate among supporters. When asked about their absences, Parker added: "Mainly selection. We'll see how that goes over the next week."
