
Renowned former Inter player, Nicolas Gianni, has passed away at the age of 39 after a battle with an incurable illness.
The shocking news has been confirmed by his former club, which has expressed its deepest condolences on his passing.
Gianni, who began his football career in Inter's youth system, has spent a large part of his career in Italian football. After several loan spells between 2006 and 2008, he left the club, but continued to play for other teams such as Cremonese, Vicenza and Spezia.
Inter have released an official statement expressing their deepest condolences for Gianni's loss: " FC Internazionale Milano expresses its deepest condolences for the passing of Nicolas Gianni, a defender who was part of the youth sector of the Nerazzurri from 1998 to 2005. The club expresses its most sincere condolences to his family at this difficult moment ."
Gianni was born in the city of Como and began his career in Inter's youth system in the 2000s. However, he failed to make it to the Inter first team, but has played at other levels of Italian football during his career.
After retiring in 2022, after being diagnosed with an incurable disease, he could no longer fight. The three clubs he played for during his career, Cremonese, Vicenza and Spezia, have issued messages of condolence for the loss of one of their former players.
