The Bundesliga is expected to see some changes in the coaching staff in the summer transfer window. Leverkusen and Leipzig are two of the important clubs in the German championship that will most likely have a new coach in the 2025-2026 season.
If there are many discussions for Leverkusen, there are no fewer for Leipzig. Cesc Fabregas (38/Como) and Oliver Glasner (50/Crystal Palace) are the two main candidates for the position of coach at the Bundesliga club. Leipzig's management is still optimistic that one of the two desired solutions will work. But, because there are many obstacles for both (continuous contracts, competition from other clubs), the club is naturally considering alternatives that come into play if the two main solutions do not work.
According to information from "Bild", the name of Davide Ancelotti (35), son of Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti (65), has been mentioned within the club in this context. It is said that there has already been contact. Davide, who has a contract with Real until 2026, has been part of his father's coaching staff since he was 23 years old (at PSG, Real, Bayern, Napoli, Everton and again at Real). Among his strengths is communication and good knowledge of several languages, including German.
He now speaks five languages fluently – Italian, Spanish, English, French and German. Last year, his father told him that he could imagine a role change, in which he would become his son's assistant. From Spain, it is said that Carlo is increasingly listening to him. Davide has a good relationship with the (young) players, is one of the first to arrive at the training center and one of the last to leave. So the advantage is that Davide has a lot of experience, at least in the second row. His disadvantage is that the Italian carries a certain risk, because he has never worked as a head coach before. However, other clubs have also become aware of his qualities, so in addition to English clubs, Roma is also said to be interested in him. Now it remains to be seen what choice the Bundesliga club will make.
