The World Cup is an event that is often associated with strange stories. And undoubtedly the strangest is the one that belongs to the famous Group F. History shows that no representative that has started the tournament as a participant in Group F has managed to win the trophy, although it has often come close.
Since 1982, when the activity expanded to 24 teams, the number of groups had to be increased and Group F appeared. Socrates' great Brazil, the favorite for the tournament, was immediately included in that group. But it was eliminated on the way by Italy.
Four years later, in Mexico 1986, it was England's turn, which was eliminated by Maradona's Argentina. In 1990, the English were again in the cursed group, and this time they failed in the semi-finals against Germany. Then it was the turn of the Netherlands and Germany, or in 2002, the draw placed England and Argentina in the same Group F, but neither was successful.
The only team that came close to breaking the curse was Messi's Argentina in 2014, when they reached the final but were beaten by Germany, ending their World Cup dream. So in today's draw, everyone will undoubtedly want to avoid a particular group to have one less hurdle on their way.
