The representative of Kosovo gets ready for the qualifying matches of "EURO 2024" in a very tense situation. The reason is the lack of striker Arbnor Muja in the list, who was left out of the list by coach Alen Zhires.
The player won the championship title with Antwerp in Belgium, but was not invited by the French coach of Kosovo for these two matches. Meanwhile, there are rumors that this is related to a possible decision of the former player of Skënderbeu to join the ranks of Albania, since he has not played any challenge so far with "Dardans".
Zhires, today at the press conference stated that Muja had asked him for a guarantee to play, so he was not part of the gathering.
"As for Muja, I invited him for the friendlies we had in November, but he did not come. Then I invited him for the March matches and he was part of the team. Regarding these matches, Muja has asked for a guarantee for the place of the starter, which I explained to him that no one has such a guarantee. And, if you think so, then it is better not to come than to come and not play", said the coach in front of the media.
After these statements, Muja himself reacted through a post on Facebook, responding to the coach and showing that the rift between them is obvious.
Arbnor Muja's status on Facebook:
Hello friends,
Until today, I have been silent about the issue of my non-invitation by the selector of the Kosovo Representative, Alain Giresse.
But today, you will not be silent!
"The statement of coach Zhires that I asked him for the starting position in the June matches is untrue. I spoke with coach Zhires and his assistant during my participation in the March matches. My request was where I stand in the plans of the coach Zhires for the next matches and why I did not appear against Israel and Andorra. I told him that I think my absence from the March games was unfair.
Every coach and their staff that has worked with me knows that I never ask for that. The selector can call my name, I can leave it in the reserve bank, I can leave it in the stands, but never tarnish it", was Muja's flame-for-flame response, which has ignited another fiery debate in Kosovo.
