Three days until the Italian derby, the latest news from Inter and Milan

The countdown has already begun: Inter and Milan are preparing for the Derby della Madonnina, scheduled for Sunday, November 23 at San Siro. This is the first match that pits the two coaches: Cristian Chivu and Massimiliano Allegri against each other.

Neither can afford to lose. For the Nerazzurri, with three league defeats under their belt, the fear of a head-to-head would be heightened, given their defeats against Juve and Napoli. For the Rossoneri, however, it would mean slipping five points behind their rivals, a huge gap at this point in the season. For the rest, it will be a typical derby.

An impossible match to predict, which will be filled with tension and adrenaline for both teams until the start of the match.

Here's how both teams approach the big match.

A significant absence and some doubts about the lineup are troubling pre-match preparations for Chivu.

Denzel Dumfries will be sidelined after returning from the Netherlands training camp with an ankle problem. He is unlikely to return for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Who will play in the Dutchman's place? The wisest choice is Carlos Augusto, who will be deployed on the right, given the lack of reliability of his natural replacement, Luis Enrique.

It will be a midfield showdown between Sucic and Zielinski. The Croatian is useful for playing vertically.

The final question is who will play in central defense: Bisseck or Acerbi. This choice undoubtedly has tactical implications. The German's ability to run back may actually be the best weapon to slow down the pace on the counterattack, but it remains difficult to give up Acerbi's leadership in such an important match.

It will all depend on the type of match Inter want to play. Controlling the game without defensive balance, as happened against Napoli, could again be fatal.

Balance will be needed in all phases of the game. And in this sense, the recomposition of the Lautaro-Thuram duo is the best weapon to damage Milan.

A calm and important recovery threshold for Allegri, who no longer has the simple squad he had before the last international break, when he essentially had no other choice.

Adrien Rabiot will return to midfield. With the Frenchman on the pitch, the Rossoneri have won 4 matches and drawn one between the league and the Coppa Italia. His absence was felt strongly against Pisa and Parma, precisely because of his ability to provide balance and support the attack.

In attack, all eyes will be on Rafael Leao, who will be called upon to attack deep, exploiting his speed on long balls and to stretch out on the left, his preferred wing.

The best tactical tool to undermine and keep the Nerazzurri defense on edge. One thing is already certain: Milan know how to play big games, having won them all. And the derby seems like the perfect match for Allegri. With Inter pressing high up the pitch, he will ask his wingers (Saelemaekers and Bartesaghi or Estupinan, but also Pavlovic) to turn the game around quickly.

It's hard to imagine Milan changing their nature or pressing high up the pitch, as they risk stretching out and leaving too much space. At the same time, however, they can't allow Inter to maintain control of the game at all times.

The aim is to avoid excessive pressure in their own penalty area; the Nerazzurri have many ways to cause damage. Max knows this well.
