The US Open tournament, one of the most important in world tennis, is taking place these days in the USA in extreme weather conditions, temperatures have reached over 30 degrees and the players on the court have shown great difficulty playing. This has prompted the famous Russian tennis player, Dani Medvedev, to make a shocking statement in front of the cameras.
The world number 3 was playing against fellow countryman Andrei Rublev in the quarter-finals when he walked up to the camera and made a shocking statement. " A player will die and you will see it ", were his words in front of the camera during the break of the match.
The Russian tennis player won the challenge 3-0 in sets, but stated that everything was affected by the heat and he had a hard time hitting the ball properly.
" It was brutal. The only good thing I see in these conditions is that both parties suffer, so it is difficult for both. At the end of the first set, I couldn't see the ball anymore! I played with feeling and tried to shoot, run and catch the ball. The opponent did the same ," he said.
