Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Al Nassr on December 30, 2022, shocked the world. Regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, Ronaldo signed a contract that would see him earn €200 million a year, including a guaranteed salary of €90 million, with commercial and sponsorship deals taking his total annual salary in 200 million.
But it now appears that Ronaldo could leave Al Nassr and rival club Al Hilal has been considered as a possible destination. According to "AS", Al Hilal are considering buying Ronaldo as a replacement for Neymar, who has suffered from injuries and is also rumored to join Inter Miami in the next term.
The move could happen in the winter transfer window and Al Hilal hope to complete the deal in January as they want to have the Portuguese before the FIFA Club World Cup.
Since joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo is yet to win a title. This season, he has played 14 games, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists.
Many football fans are also hoping he heads to Europe, with one last chance to see him play in the Champions League before retirement. His last club in Europe was Manchester United, which he joined in 2021 for a second spell.
But his adventure ended in the worst possible way, as Ronaldo fell out with then coach Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese star gave a controversial interview to Piers Morgan, where he criticized the club's hierarchy and Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Neymar's adventure in Saudi Arabia has not gone according to plan. Al Hilal reportedly paid PSG €100 million on August 15, 2023. He also reportedly earns €150 million a year with the club.
But the Brazilian has been constantly injured and has barely appeared for the club. The Brazilian has also come under fire in Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal fans noting his absence since joining the club. / Telegraph
