Enea Jorgji was the protagonist of this weekend in the Superior Category in the match between Tirana and Skënderbeu where some of his decisions brought a lot of controversy. But it seems that that match was the "test" for midweek, as UEFA appointed Jorgji to lead an international match with a decision that has reason to be called historic.
Jorgji has been appointed to officiate Thursday's German Conference League clash between Heidenheim and Olimpija Ljubljana. His assistants, as in the weekend match, will be Denis Rexha and Ridiger Çokaj, while the fourth referee will be Eldorjan Hamiti.
What makes this appointment by UEFA historic is the fact that for the first time, in support of the Albanian judges who are on the field, there will be Albanian judges again in the VAR room. Thus, Kreshnik Bajramaj will be responsible for VAR, with Juxhin Xhaja as responsible for AVAR.
This means that for the first time in UEFA competitions, there will be a full team of Albanian referees in the management of a match in the group stage. This looks like a real test for them, as as can be seen from the names involved, they are all FIFA-branded.
