Vllaznia and Pogradec pass the ball to the Federation's court on the "Najara" issue: We have never requested a gender test for the Brazilian volleyball player
The recent issue that has erupted in Albanian sports regarding Brazilian volleyball player Najara Ferreria, who plays in the Super League with the Dinamo team, has taken a different turn today.
She has been suspended indefinitely by the Albanian Volleyball Federation, following suspicions that two clubs, specifically Pogradec and Vllaznia, have raised regarding the player. These two clubs, through posts on social media, have clarified that they did not request any gender test, but a control or physiological test.
The suspicion of these two clubs is that Ferreira may use prohibited substances (doping), including those that cause the growth of hormones. According to them, this would lead to an increase in the player's performance and a competition on unequal conditions.
This was confirmed by Aleksandër Leqejza, the administrator of the Vllaznia volleyball team, who said: " Vllaznia has requested a physiological test, which is a general medical test and not a biological test related to gender. Vllaznia condemns the attacks on the Dinamo volleyball player and her denigration and stands in solidarity with the difficult situation she is going through ."
While Dorian Latifllari, director of the multifunctional center of Pogradec, says: " We have raised a sporting issue. We asked the FSHV to conduct a specific analysis for this player if she is suitable to play in this category. I take into account that we may have the use of substances, which are prohibited by the regulations of international sports federations, or for various hormonal therapies ."
