Lawyer Kujtim Cakrani spoke about the Gjadri camp where the first 16 immigrants arrived today after the much discussed Rama-Meloni agreement.
He described it as a Guantanamo and not a camp. Cakrani said that the construction of this camp is a shame for Albania and Italy, since according to him, with this agreement, they have created a Guantanamo where the rights of various individuals are violated in the heart of Europe.
"The 16 immigrants are a show to show that the work started. It is an Italian show. Giorgia Meloni took over this show as a very good communicator with the public. I want to dwell on the legality of it. We have discussed it earlier. From the point of view of freedom of human rights it is not a camp. It is a Guantanamo in the middle of Europe, there are no high security camps, there are prisons, there are high security barracks, but there are no high security refugee camps in the world.
They left a bit unfortunate because they are victims of trafficking, war and so on, but I don't think that today in 2024 you should build a Guantanamo. They have no chance to penetrate there, this dictionary which is a camp and others is not the reality.
The reality is quite different. The journalist said a little while ago that it cannot be seen with the eyes, is there a camp that is not seen with the eyes? The high security prison cannot be penetrated by eye. This is the shame of Albania and Italy, who have built a Guantanamo in the middle of Europe, where human rights are violated", said Cakrani for "Euronews Albania".
