200 cases every day in the pediatric emergency room, doctors: Don't ignore
Doctor Albert Lama

The Pediatric Emergency Department of the QSUT is facing a high influx of children, with over 200 cases presenting every day, mainly with viral infections of the respiratory system. The majority of cases present with symptoms such as: cough, fever, and vomiting.

Doctors recommend that parents not neglect symptoms and that children be treated by their family doctor for mild symptoms.

Albert Lama, a pediatrician at the QSUT emergency room, says that most of these cases show cough and fever, while some children also show diarrhea or vomiting.

"It is recommended that in cases with mild symptoms, treatment be initiated with the family doctor, avoiding overloading the emergency room," the doctor said.

Meanwhile, the Pediatric Emergency staff is working intensively to cope with the large number of children seeking help, ensuring that each case receives appropriate treatment.
