The lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu spoke about the 34th anniversary of the student movement, which brought about the overthrow of the communist regime.
Spahiu described it as a peaceful change, a consequence of the developments in Eastern Europe, while emphasizing that the students were not the main initiators, but a part of a wider process.
"December 8 worn out has been used and misused for 34 years. I would like to bring up some phenomena that have not been mentioned for many years. We Albanians have been the last in every European phenomenon. The last for independence, for the independent state, the last to unite, to remove the communist system, the last for integration in Europe. We were last because the change of the political regime did not come from the initiative of the students. December 8 came as a chronological result of some changes in Eastern Europe and it was Albania's turn. This is the reason that December 8 happened so peacefully. For the sake of the truth, in the protests of December 8, when we organized in Studentit Square and marched on Elbasan street, we stopped for a while until we were beaten by the police and reorganized in Studentit City for 4-5 days until the creation of the Democratic Party . said Spahiu for "Report TV".
Spahiu assessed that the communist regime under the leadership of Ramiz Ali did not cause casualties during the protests, but denounced the subsequent clashes within politics and the elimination of historical figures from Albanian pluralism.
"For the sake of the truth, Ramiz Alia, the last dictator, did not kill any student, any young man, any of us, no one in the Student City square or on the street of Elbasan. Subsequently, protesters have been killed by various governments. We were violated, beaten, but none of us was killed. It was a peaceful change as a result of some talks and negotiations. From those protests, a new party was born that opened the wake of pluralism in Albania," he said.
He further pointed out that none of the founders of the DP is no longer in politics, except for Sali Berisha.
"None of the founders of the DP, except for one, is no longer in politics, all 337 founders have left, eliminated. Thrown on the streets, without work, removed from Albania. We have the complete list, unfortunately. There is only one person. He is not a participant , came later. All the departures are due to his initiative, as did Enver Hoxha. It is enough to leave you on the streets and burn career" , said the lawyer.
