Criminalistics professor Ervin Karamuço said that SPAK's investigation of mayor Erion Veliaj is a routine development.
According to him, there were also high exponents of the Socialist Party who were investigated a lot while SPAK did not see any involvement and the case was closed. However, according to the criminologist professor, it remains to be seen if Veliaj will be a similar case.
" We have the moment when the person is aware of the circumstances of the investigation, it is a legal-criminal setting. Comprehensive investigations are conducted against him and his family members, and then the next part passes, which is a part where the prosecution collects evidence and then communicates the accusation, and then he is a person who is directly referred to, after which the evidence is collected and a measure is determined or not for to go to court and to continue.
Now we are still in the investigation phase, the prosecutor does not yet have evidence that Mr. Veliaj will be charged. It is still the phase where the investigations are done. If a witness tells me something I am obliged to see if this information has been exchanged, are there any phone calls that have happened to this person or does this refer in vain? So it's still an investigation, let's not rush ," said Karamuço in "Review" in Euronews Albania.
