350 passengers stranded in Brindisi depart for Albania by ferry, Balla: Wizz Air

After the chaos created at Brindisi Airport with dozens of stranded Albanian passengers, the situation has been resolved.

Around 400 passengers traveling from Bergamo and Bologna to Tirana on Wizz Air flights were forced to divert to Italy due to adverse weather conditions at "Mother Teresa" Airport in the early morning hours of January 7.

Since morning, tension has been high in the premises of Brindisi airport. Airport sources report that the planes had been in Albanian airspace for a long time, waiting for permission to land, but due to bad weather and low fuel, they were diverted to Italy. In Brindisi, passengers have been faced with a lack of information and communication from the company, which led to protests and tensions. A group of passengers even broke the security gates and entered the runway to demand explanations.

The intervention of Italian law enforcement and the engagement of airport authorities escalated the situation into an emergency that was difficult to manage. According to Puglia Airport, initially the possibility of returning passengers to the departure airports was offered, but the stranded Albanians rejected this option, seeking a direct solution to Tirana.

The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has also reacted to this situation, announcing that a solution has been found for transporting passengers to Albania.

" The problem of about 350 passengers traveling from Bergamo and Bologna to Rinas Airport, who were stranded at Brindisi Airport, has been resolved. Bus transportation from Brindisi Airport to the Port and then to Albania has been organized. The Wizz Air company must properly respect Passenger Rights!!! ", writes Balla.
