SPAK head Altin Dumani spoke in Parliament about IPARD funds. Although this file has been under investigation for two years, there has been no conclusion so far.
It was MP Elda Hoti who submitted several questions on this topic and Dumani was asked directly whether former minister Frida Krifca was being investigated.
He warned that all those involved are being investigated, but justified that they have been conditioned on cooperation with EU authorities.
-Are there any criminal proceedings regarding possible abuses of IPARD funds in Albania?
Yes, such a proceeding has been registered and I have also confirmed it in the Laws Committee, but a public statement has also been made by the Special Prosecution Office. The matter is under investigation and close cooperation is being established with OLAF and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, with OLAF mainly as the initiator of this proceeding.
-Why isn't Frida Krifca being investigated?
I guarantee that in that criminal proceeding, any person suspected of having committed illegal acts while performing their duties will be investigated. It is a priority issue, I said, we are conditioned by cooperation with foreign authorities.
-Why is it that in cases involving government ministers, such as the Krifca case, there is no public reaction or immediate action by the Special Prosecution Office, while in cases involving the opposition, action is immediate and vocal?
This is your assessment, Madam Deputy. We are cold in investigating criminal cases, we do not care which political camp the subject of the criminal offense comes from. What is important is to secure evidence and file a successful indictment.
