The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, is reporting to the Assembly on the activity of the special prosecution and was asked whether the investigations have also been extended to the construction sector, where organized crime exponents invest money obtained illegally.
Dumani confirmed that SPAK has launched money laundering investigations not only in the construction sector, but also in hotel tourism. He announced that several hotels, luxury apartments, villas and commercial units have already been confiscated, adding these assets to the portfolio of seized and confiscated assets.
" We have launched investigations into money laundering, certainly also in construction and in the hotel-tourism sector, where I can tell you, I don't know, at least four hotels have already been confiscated as proceeds of crime.
In construction, because we have seen cases, we have even seized, some have been confiscated, some are in the process of being confiscated, where exponents of organized crime have invested, in commercial units, in luxury apartments, in villas. We have introduced parts of the portfolio of seized and confiscated assets precisely in commercial units, villas, apartments and others , "he said.
