Two days ago, Italian and Albanian law enforcement authorities, coordinated by Eurojust, launched the operation codenamed 'Ura' to crack down on one of the criminal groups operating in the field of narcotics trafficking, mainly cocaine and heroin. The GJKKO had signed 29 arrest warrants, while only 14 have been executed, while the names of the arrested persons, or those who have been declared wanted, have not been officially made public. What has been published in the media is that those considered to be the heads of the criminal group have not been arrested.
Security expert Faik Basha was asked by A2Cnn if he thought there had been a debunking of the operation?
He said that this cannot be said, as neither the Italian authorities nor SPAK have raised such suspicions.
"The first is that most of the investigation was conducted by Italy and it's not like there was much information about Albanian institutions.
"We have had episodic cases of BKH and SPAK involvement, while the police were notified only 6 hours before the operation began, and it was even coded," Basha said.
But how is it explained that the leaders of the criminal group were not arrested?
Basha says that perhaps this is related to the fact that leaders of criminal groups or organizations, due to previous operations and investigations, but also clashes they have had with their rivals, have left Albania.
He said that at least in the last 10 days there has been no information about these people, and according to him, this also comes from the observation of the BKH and the law enforcement bodies that have been tasked with surveillance.
