The Director of Durrës Police, Afrim Tafa, has been dismissed from his post just two days after being suspended following the tragic accident in Durrës, where two children lost their lives.
The decision was made by the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, while the reason for the dismissal is related to poor performance in leading the police structure.
The serious incident occurred a few days ago, when 57-year-old Nikollë Radaçi, who was suspected of driving while intoxicated, fatally hit two minors.
Following the fatal accident, the State Police announced the return of patrols to the field to check and stop drivers who violate traffic rules. This decision comes just a few weeks after, on April 10, it was ordered to reduce the number of stops by traffic police patrols on interurban roads.
Afrim Tafa had been leading the Durrës Police for about three and a half months. He was appointed to this position by the former Director General of the State Police, Ilir Proda.
