The Police Supervision Agency has verified the actions of the local police after the tragic accident in Këlcyre, where 7 immigrants from Pakistan and the driver of the car, from Shkodra, lost their lives. In the AMP report, all schedules and actions of the police are given accurately and in detail.
According to the report, around 01:40 the patrol of the Këlcyre Police Station found the vehicle with which the illegal immigrants were being transported, with the aim of illegally crossing the border, against payment.
The vehicle was found to be moving from Përmet in the direction of Këlcyra. The moment the driver of the vehicle, Edison Bregaj found the police patrol, he quickly turned back towards Përmet.
The police patrol took a private vehicle belonging to one of the police officers and started chasing the car, while they also reported to the Operative Room Përmet. They saw the lights of the car at a far distance and then did not find them anymore, thinking that they might have passed on some secondary road.
Then around 04:20, in the place called "Rripi i Kuqari", they found signs of heavy braking of the vehicle and went down to check around. At this moment, they discovered that the 8 people who were in the car had an accident and died as a result.
From the verifications carried out, the accident vehicle type 'Benz' with license plate AA060OV is owned by the citizen Sokol Ismeti, resident in Pulaj, Velipojë, while Edison Afrim Bregaj, born on 24.10.1999, was driving the vehicle, which was lost control of the vehicle and it went off the road, ending up on the bed of the Vjosë river, 100 meters down the road.
