The Regional Directorate of the National Food Authority (AKU) in the Shkodra region has reported to the prosecutor's office a commercial entity that imports corn from Serbia. The company in question is the "Modi" shpk company, in whose warehouses 24 tons of refried corn have been blocked, after analyses showed that the product contained levels above the permitted norm of aflatoxin B1.
According to the report prepared by this directorate, the subject is accused of the criminal offense of "Fraud with food products".
Initially, the AKU imposed a freeze on the quantity of corn imported from Serbia, pending the completion of laboratory analyses. However, according to the authorities, the entity is suspected of having violated the law again by interfering with the frozen products, which had been placed under quarantine by the National Food Authority.
