The electronic draw was held this Tuesday, May 5, to select the panel of judges that will examine the case against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa, as well as 10 other defendants who did not request a summary trial.
According to the draw, at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC), the case will be examined by a panel composed of Elsa Ulliri as the presiding judge, as well as judges Flora Hajredini and Besmir Stroka.
We recall that during the April 27 session, the court decided to divide the file into two parts, after accepting the request of 11 defendants for a shortened trial. Among them are businessman Elman Abule and former MP Klotilda Bushka.
Meanwhile, the requests submitted by Erion Veliaj's defense were previously rejected by the court. His lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, has raised concerns that the file includes about 35 files with digital evidence (CDs and USBs), which, according to him, were not opened or reviewed during the preliminary phase.
