SPAK head Altin Dumani has revealed details of the joint operation with Finnish authorities that led to the crackdown on an Albanian criminal drug group in Finland.
Dumani said that the criminal activity was organized in Albania. He emphasized that the focus of this group was synthetic drugs, while adding that the organizers preferred to stay in Albania, from where they ran the group.
According to Dumani, the leaders of the groups smuggled their people from Albania to Finland to sell narcotics.
"The activity extends over years, secondly, the organizers preferred to stay in Albania. From here they organized all the criminal activity. There are 54 people prosecuted, most of them convicted in Finland. In Finland, there are not only Albanian citizens, but also Finns, and those with other nationalities. This is the first time that we have identified a criminal group that was involved in trafficking synthetic drugs. The quantities are large. We have also seized ecstasy. We all know the risk that these synthetic drugs pose to the health of the consumer. This criminal group had created a network of their own in Finland. From time to time, they would send their representatives from Albania and there they would start the activity of selling narcotics. The cooperation has been intense ," said Dumani.
