Altin Ndoc's escape from the Durrës Infectious Diseases Hospital where he was being treated has caused a storm in the Durrës Prison and has put the Ministry of Justice in motion.
The Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, after signing the dismissal of the director of the Durrës Penitentiary Institution, Indrit Cërloj, has requested a new plan for the assessment of security and redistribution based on the dangerousness of convicts and detainees at the Durrës Penitentiary Institution.
Lamallari also asked the Prisons to consider transferring those convicted of serious criminal offenses to other high-security prisons.
The Minister has requested the Director General of Prisons and the Director of the Internal Control Service of the Prison System to make maximum efforts with the Prosecutor's Office to clarify the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
These measures come a day after the escape of detainee Altin Ndoci, one of the most controversial names in the underworld, while he was being sent for a medical check-up to the city hospital.
We recall that yesterday the entire chain of command of the Durrës Penitentiary Institution was suspended from duty.
