The road to Qafë Thore has been blocked after the reactivation of avalanches, as a result of rising temperatures and the impact of sunlight on the mountain slope. The Mayor of Shkodër, Benet Beci, announced that avalanches have covered the road segment near the panoramic tunnels, in the area around kilometer 5.5 of the axis.
He explains that the cleanup intervention appears dangerous until the snow on the mountain slope stabilizes.
"As a result of rising temperatures and the impact of sunlight on the mountain slope, avalanches have reactivated in the area of the panoramic tunnels in Qafë Thore, blocking the road segment around km 5.5.
Currently, clearing operations appear to be dangerous until the snow on the mountain slope stabilizes. For this reason, it has been ordered to cease all efforts to remove snow from avalanches.
Assessing the current situation and the high level of risk, traffic on Qafë Thore is suspended for all types of vehicles until further notice.
The responsible structures remain in constant monitoring of the situation and will inform citizens of any further developments.
"Please avoid movement on this axis and respect the instructions of the authorities for your safety," Benet Beci announced.
