The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the arrest of the author of the assassination that happened 2 days ago in Shkodër, where Selami Brahimi was injured.
68-year-old Sulejman Kapllani was arrested in Berlin.
Balla said that the procedures for his extradition will begin, stressing that extradition agreements are also being prepared for many wanted Albanians who are taking refuge in countries where Albania does not have extradition agreements.
"Congratulations to the State Police, Interpol Tirana, Interpol Wiesbaden and the Prosecutor's Office of the General Jurisdiction Shkodër for uncovering and arresting the person suspected of a criminal event that occurred 2 days ago in Shkodër. Day by day, the cooperation of Interpol Tirana with the partner agencies for exchange of information for the purpose of tracking, locating and apprehending internationally wanted persons. This cooperation is also expanding with countries where we previously did not have extradition agreements, with those countries that until now have served as "safe" countries for many requested.
I congratulate Interpol Tirana and the structures of the State Police at all levels, for the successive operations, for the capture of wanted persons and their extradition to the places where they have committed criminal activity. Only during the first 40 days of this year, 20 operations were carried out by Interpol Tirana and the structures of the State Police, and the continuous coordination with partners has located, captured and handcuffed 20 internationally wanted persons in several regions of the country. , writes Balla in his reaction.
