With a modest income as artists, but with a wealth of oligarchs worth millions of euros.
It is about one of the most famous couples of Albanian showbiz, Besart Kallaku and Xhensila Myrtezaj, a duo which has suddenly started investing in real estate in the last 2-3 years, raising strong doubts about the source of the money.
As the portals boil these days for a possible separation, a topic that always intrigues the public, Besart Kallaku and Xhensila Myrtezaj, in recent months, have bought a house worth over 1 million euros near the Zoo, one of the expensive areas of Tirana.
It is about the top floor of a new building, adapted as a residential house. Only the interior decoration cost more than 400 thousand euros, although it was probably stated in the papers many times less.
In Mëzez, Kashar, Bes Kallaku is the owner of a property worth over 2 million euros, which includes the Noku Sports Complex, as well as a restaurant, pizzeria, playground, etc., under the name Burger Ija. This investment was made a few months ago.
In May 2021, Xhensila Myrtezaj opened an aesthetic dermatology clinic in Lake Dry. It is about the Silabel clinic, an investment worth over 2 million euros.
The source of the money for this investment is not known. Xhensila Myrtezaj is the owner of two almost phantom companies, with no documented activity and balance sheet, as a singer, consulting for advertising and sales of aesthetic products, with an address in Liqini i Thë.
Meanwhile, Besart Kallaku is co-owner of a fish restaurant in Tirana, Loku & Arditi Fisherman, opened in 2017, an investment also with a dubious source of money. The comedian also owns several luxury cars and apartments, all with questionable sources of money.
There are several elements that raise strong suspicions of money laundering by Xhensila Myrtezaj and Besart Kallaku.
First, the showbiz couple did not inherit wealth, as they come from two non-rich families, like most Albanians.
Secondly, the showbiz couple does not have a business history. Xhensila Myrtezaj and Besart Kallaku the two main businesses, Silabel and Buger Ija, last month.
Thirdly, the legitimate income of the showbiz couple comes from the salary of Besart Kallaku as an actor and Xhensila Myrtezaj as a singer.
Fourth, in the last two years, they have invested several million euros in real estate, declaring purchases and investments in contracts at very low cost in relation to the real value of the property. / BEHIND THE SCENES
