New details have emerged from the investigation into the murder of 55-year-old Bardhe Ziçi, who was shot to death by her husband in Shkodra. According to sources from the investigative group, the main lead the investigation is focused on is related to jealousy between the spouses.
Security cameras seized by the police have documented the moments leading up to the incident. According to the investigation, shortly before the crime, Shtjefën Ziçi asked his wife for her cell phone, which led to an argument between them.
After the conflict, the 62-year-old is suspected of entering the apartment, taking the shotgun he possessed with permission and shooting twice at his wife, while one bullet proved fatal for the 55-year-old.
The incident occurred on the doorstep of their apartment, while the wife tried to run away to escape the bullets, but lost her life on the spot.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that in the first moments after his arrest, the suspected perpetrator told officers that he did not regret what he had done. However, this is not considered official evidence, as it was not provided during questioning according to legal procedures.
Although Shtjefën Ziçi has not yet given an official statement due to his severe emotional state, the defense claims that the incident was accidental.
The crime occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on July 9, on the eastern ring road of Shkodra. The couple ran a grocery store near the apartment and, according to preliminary investigations, an argument broke out there before the suspected perpetrator took out a gun and shot his wife.
Shtjefën and Bardhe Ziçi were parents of two children, a son who lives in Canada and a daughter who serves as an officer.
According to local residents, they were known as peaceful people and no one was aware of any previous conflicts between them. After the incident, police arrested Shtjefën Ziçi on the spot, who did not leave or resist.
The crime weapon, a licensed shotgun, was also seized, as well as security cameras in the area, which are expected to help fully uncover the dynamics of this event that shocked Shkodra.
