Former prosecutor Eugen Beci spoke about the case of the arrest of the former socialist deputy, Jurgis Çyrbja. Beci explained how the Special Prosecutor's Office fished for Çyrbjan, initially asking him only about a report made for abuse of office during the time he was head of the Durrës Cadastre.
This caused the MP to resign in order to be declared incompetent by SPAK and to be investigated by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office.
But according to Beci, at the last moment, the prosecution informed him that he was also under investigation for the interception of the SKY platform, where it turned out that he had debunked the actions of the police and had informed the leaders of the criminal gangs in Durrës.
"It was a strategy that the Special Prosecutor handled very well and managed to succeed in 'fishing' the person in question. The prosecution summoned this person and asked him only about his activity as a former employee of the Cadastre in Durrës. He thought it was just a case of abuse of office. Consultations with the law and with his lawyer may have led him to the conclusion that, by resigning, he would no longer be tried by SPAK, but by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office. But he made a mistake in this calculation, as the Special Prosecutor's Office "fished" him. After his resignation, SPAK told him that he had 'forgotten' to ask him about SKY ECC. So this was a successful strategy of SPAK" , said Beci for "Euronews Albania".
