The former head of Omonia, Ligoraq Karamelo, has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of keeping Fredi Beleri in prison. In a Skype call with the A2 CNN Debate studio, he said the facts presented in the trial today showed that the judiciary is not independent from politics.
" The sixth time he has been unjustly kept in prison. It is known that the clear positions are taken by the court on one side and the prime minister of Albania on the other. It is clear that what we saw today is that the assembly of lawyers of Greece and Europe clearly treated the legal case that the right of a person elected by the people has been violated, the right of the mass has been violated, the human right to represent the community and rights. With the facts we have seen so far, the judiciary is not independent from politics ," he said.
According to him, Beleri cannot escape and put pressure on the witnesses
" Mr. Beleri cannot escape because he is elected, he cannot put pressure on the witnesses, he cannot commit another criminal act ", he added.
