Former ambassador Pëllumb Xhufi spoke about the opening of the NATO base in Kuçovo and the reactions that came from official Athens.
In the show "360 degrees" on ABC News, Xhufi said that the opening of the NATO base in Kuçovo is seen as an unfriendly presence, underlining that the Greek governments have always treated Albania in this way.
" In addition to the agenda since the creation of the Greek state that we inherited, which is the law of war, the Cham issue, the land border issue, the property issue, the problem is that every happy news that comes from Albania is eagerly awaited by Greece and here it is the big problem. When we started to join NATO or went through other stages, Greece, which we have high hopes for, was the last country to give us approval from all EU countries for the SAA, it was the last to give us approval for entry into NATO and with conditions. We know very well what happened, the cemetery, the school, Himara or even the deal. So even the opening of a NATO base is seen as an unfriendly presence because this is how the Greek governments have treated Albania ", said Xhufi.
For his part, Captain Artur Meçollari added that Greece excused itself and that the invitation to participate in the opening of the NATO base has been made.
