Interior Minister Taulant Balla spoke about the rape of lawyer Sokol Mêngjesi on Wednesday morning in Tirana.
In the show "Opinion", Balla said that the lawyer's health condition remains serious, while he is receiving medical treatment.
The minister praised the work of the State Police, while adding that the event was not prevented as there was no warning about the conflict.
" I hope Morning gets through this difficult moment. I have communicated with the doctors who are treating him. Until Monday he thinks that his life may be in danger, if Monday passes he will recover. What is important for us... It is about a conflict of several months. I have the right that it is a serious event, but within a few hours the State Police managed to arrest the main author and the orderer. Such an event is difficult to prevent if you don't have advance alerts. Citizens should report such conflicts in time to the police stations. Thanks to alerts, we managed to prevent 71 serious incidents. In this event, the main person who hit and the orderer were arrested, the others were accompanied by a car and in my view... I can say that I had a communication with the police leaders and I made it clear that yesterday was a test important for Tirana Police. I'm glad that citizens have understood and people with criminal records, that when RENEA comes out on the streets, they choose to surrender ", said Balla.
