Analyst Frrok Çupi has commented on the decision of the Court of Appeal, which left unchanged the two-year prison sentence for Fredi Beleri. He said that Greece has withdrawn a lot in relation to this issue.
Çupi said that Beleri is no longer a problem for Albania since justice "spoke", but it remains a problem for Greece, which has elected him as a member of the European Parliament. According to him, our country has an obligation only to the vacancy in Himare, which is expected to be resolved with new elections.
"There is a great attraction of the Greeks themselves in this matter. You can say that they are caught in their own trap for starting this, especially since they are faced with two conditions to withdraw. The first is that Greek politics is busy in conflicts with its neighbors, with North Macedonia and in the permanent conflict with Turkey, and another conflict cannot generate so much in Albania. The second is that Beleri is getting ready to be a member of the EP and all the politics before the elections that vote for the EP was more fiery than now. The expectations were different, the right was fighting for more power, thinking it would go to the extreme, and Greek politics also fell into this game. But now things have changed in Europe itself, it is fighting and calling both the extreme right and the left. So Greece is forced to withdraw, However, the statement of the ambassador of Greece does not say much, it continues to say the same as the old story, the presumption of innocence but does not prove where it has been violated in this particular case and the second throughout time go to the periphery of the law, in a real inaccuracy. That the law must necessarily compel Beller to go and take the oath in Strasbourg. This is an issue that receives a lot of discussion, it receives discussions and for the reason that the EP itself, about the rules and norms it has for it.
Fredi Beleri is no longer an issue of Albania. Even as long as it was, it was justice, which took it out of her hands. The fact that today he is elected in the EP as a deputy of Greece, means that it is a problem of Greece. Albania has obligations to the gap left in Himare and today the way for new elections has been opened. "Soon, the day of the elections will certainly be set, and this has nothing to do with the story that ended", said Çupi for "Abc News".
