The Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu, has tried to wash her hands of the Oncology megascandal, where doctors and hospital employees abused their duties, creating difficulties for cancer patients.
Even though the corruption happened under the government's nose, why not even by its order, Albana Koçiu avoided responsibility by saying that "these people cannot represent the white shirts".
In a statement to the media, Koçiu describes it as an unprecedented event, as he added that the people involved have been dismissed from their positions and will be punished according to the law.
"Unprecedented event. I am disgusted. All responsible persons will be punished according to the law, administrative procedures and it should be clear that these types of persons cannot stain the white shirts. They do not represent the white shirts who work professionally and have no place in the public health system," she said.
If this scandal were to happen in another country in the world, the first to resign should be the Minister of Health, but in Albania, not only does this not happen, but she does not take any responsibility and only speaks about the case that "it is disgusting".
We remind you that the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana managed to discover the scheme of how doctors of the Oncology hospital sold hospital medicines to private entities. To prove the existence of this suspicion, the prosecution used purchases of stimulated drugs. They mainly bought medicines that they used for chemotherapy.
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office, the Court of Tirana has set 8 measures of "house arrest" and "obligation to appear" for doctors of the Oncology hospital. In the investigation, part of the Oncology file are the deputy director of QSUNT Brikena Qirjazi, 2 doctors of the Oncology hospital, Edmond Gashi and Alketa Ymeri (Pere) and the Coordinator at this hospital, Emiljano Lela, as well as the administrator of the Megis clinic, Halil Gashi and pharmacy administrator Florian Marku.
