This evening, journalist Ylli Pata spoke about the political situation in the country and the arrest of former Prime Minister Berisha in the podcast "Te Pashoq" on Pamphlet's YouTube channel.
Ylli Pata declared that the measures taken against Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltez are mild and that they should be in prison today.
Excerpt from the interview:
Let's stop at Berisha, at his process and at his son-in-law Jamarbër Mallztezi, since the security measures were put into effect a day ago, in fact they both have the same amount of home isolation.
Berisha has been under house arrest for months now, the decisions of justice so far for the "Partizani" file referring to Berisha and Malltez, how did they look to you?
Ylli Pata : They are soft. Maltezi should have been in jail. Because all the others who have had, Malltezi is the man who is the owner of 17 towers, where did he get the money? Whereas Berisha was placed under house arrest because he violated the obligation to appear. But Berisha commits crimes every day. Accuses judge Irena Gjoka that you have two names, you have this dirt. If you have evidence for the judge in your case, present it to the court. But Berisha does the opposite, says them publicly using them as blackmail. A man who blackmails the courts commits a high-level criminal offense.
Berisha could not be punished today, even the fault in this case lies with Irena Gjoka, but Altin Dumani. How can a man who accuses and blackmails the judge and nothing comes to his feet. If I say that to a judge, I will be arrested or a simple person.
But as the leader of the opposition, at least de facto, he has the right to claim that this new justice is captured by Prime Minister Rama for example and to take the process against him with political undertones
Ylli Pata: I will answer with an analogy! We had Fatos Nano arrested in 2003 by the prosecutor's office of that time for passive corruption in favor of third parties, and Fatos Nano was immediately arrested in prison, and the first, second and third trials took place. A judge even released him and then Berisha intervened and that decision was overturned. But we are saying, Fatos Nano, the opposition, lawyers, followed all the judicial institutional steps.
For example, this lawyer of Berishe Gjokutaj was a prosecutor at that time, they said at that time that it was a mistake, but in the end, they followed the scale. Even the case against Berisha cannot override the system, it must follow what the constitution says. But Berisha goes beyond, blackmailing the judge. In a normal justice system, Berisha would be arrested, charged and punished for blackmailing Irena Gjoka.
