A few days after the Rama-Zelensky meeting, Albania seems to have opened its doors to all Ukrainians fleeing the war. Many issues were discussed between the Ukrainian president and the Albanian prime minister, while the pact for the production of weapons and ammunition received the most attention. However, the Ukrainian Presidency itself announced in its announcement that Albania has agreed to host and shelter Ukrainian soldiers and children who were injured during the war.

Two decisions were made today at the government meeting, which enable Ukrainians to freely take shelter in Albania. The government has changed a decision taken two years ago, postponing by 3 years the lifting of restrictions for Ukrainians coming to us.

" In point 1, of decision no. 169, dated 18.3.2022, of the Council of Ministers, "On determining the term of entry and stay of citizens of Ukraine in the Republic of Albania", amended, the phrase "... 2 (two) years ..." is replaced by "... 3 (three) years ...". The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs are charged with the implementation of this decision ", says VKM.

Another decision was also made, where it is known that all the hurricane victims who will continue or have come to our country, will be given protection by the state. The terms of stay for those people who are currently in the country have also been postponed.

" After point 3/2, of decision no. 173, dated 18.3.2022, of the Council of Ministers, "On granting temporary protection to Ukrainian citizens, stateless persons and persons who have obtained international protection in Ukraine, with temporary residence or permanent in Ukraine, as well as for the creation of the task force for the management of the flow of international protection seekers", amended, point 3/3 is added, with the following content:

"3/3. With the end of the term defined in point 3/2 of this decision, the stay of the persons who are still in the territory of the Republic of Albania is postponed until 17.9.2024."

2. The Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Tourism and the Environment and the Ministry of Finance are charged with the implementation of this decision. ", says VKM.
