Countries including Albania, Vietnam and Iraq – from where migrants have travelled to the UK – joined the talks, the first of their kind, along with representatives from France, the US and China.

Albanian immigrants have used TikTok to boast about being put up in taxpayer-funded luxury hotels that are sure to embarrass Keir Starmer and Labour.

A video posted on social media shows men bragging about reaching the UK after paying £3,000 to cross the Channel.

The title, in Albanian, advertises the itinerary as '100 percent guaranteed' as the two enjoy their hotel room which has a flat-screen TV.

A man is seen declaring: 'Respect. They brought us to London.' In another clip, a caption reads: 'Every day a trip on small boats. 100 percent safety.

'Payment £3000, when you arrive in the UK. Brothers who want to go, get in touch and we'll send you directly.'

This comes after Prime Minister Sir Keir admitted the UK was seen as a 'soft touch'.

Last year government spending rose by more than a third in one year to almost £5.4 billion on housing and supporting asylum seekers - marking the highest figure since records began.

The number of immigrants living in hotels at taxpayer expense has also increased by 8,500 according to the work.

The increase comes despite their election manifesto promise to end asylum hotels, saving taxpayers billions of pounds.

Opening a two-day conference on illegal migration in London yesterday, Prime Minister Starmer said that 'illegal migration is a massive driver of global insecurity. It undermines our ability to control who comes here and that angers people.'

"It angers me, honestly, because it's unfair to ordinary working people who are paying the price - from the cost of hotels, to our public services that are struggling.

"And it's unfair to the illegal immigrants themselves, because these are defenseless people who are ruthlessly exploited by despicable gangs," he said.

Some 6,642 migrants have crossed the Channel so far this year on 119 boats, including more than 4,000 this month alone.

Countries including Albania, Vietnam and Iraq – from where migrants have travelled to the UK – joined the talks, the first of their kind, along with representatives from France, the US and China.

The Prime Minister called on the 40 countries that gathered yesterday and today in London to work together to stop people smuggling gangs in the same way as terrorists.

Writing in the Mail, the Prime Minister insisted that international cooperation was the 'foundation' of securing Britain's borders. Around £30m of funding was set aside to tackle supply chains, illicit finance and trafficking routes across Europe, the Balkans, Asia and Africa.

An additional £3 million will increase the capacity of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to prosecute smugglers and expand its international footprint.

Smuggling gangs have been known to use social media platforms to advertise Channel crossing packages and to contact migrants before switching to encrypted messaging services.

Executives from technology firms including Meta, X and TikTok attended yesterday's summit to discuss tackling online advertising.

During the summit, the Prime Minister said: 'We have seized hundreds of boats and motorbikes, increasing the costs for smugglers. We have taken down 18,000 social media accounts, 10,000 more than last year, disrupting the way smugglers promote their services.'

He added that "this government is taking back control, doing the hard graft necessary to deliver results, working with our international allies to dismantle these gangs and secure our borders."

The Prime Minister also announced that the Home Office has returned more than 24,000 people without the right to be in the UK since Labour took power.

There were 24,103 returns between July 5 and March 22 - the highest number for eight years - including 3,594 foreign criminals. /Adapted from Pamphlet by Daily Mail/
