The Conference of Ambassadors takes place this Monday. The proceedings of the conference were divided into several sessions where Albania's path to the European Union was among them.
Journalist Blendi Fevziu was also invited during the discussions, who said that as far as integration is concerned, Albania has been equally impatient for 32 years.
"But I don't know if Europe is equally impatient to welcome us inside", he added.
Fevziu expressed to the guests that since the beginning of the 200s he began to have the conviction that Europe endlessly postpones the integration of Albania or perhaps does not want us to be part of it at all.
Therefore, in his speech, he said that Albania will remain an eternal aspirant in the EU.
"Today our change is big. It is a change not of a few years, or of a few months. It is a change that comes in 33 consecutive years. Today I was noticing the statistics that Italians and Greeks were the main tourists dominating the list of visitors to Albania during the summer. Albania is not a country that does not fulfill the conditions to be a member of the EU. It hurts me that I travel a lot and to very distant countries, I have already traveled to almost 150 countries of the world, where I am asked without any great curiosity because outside of Europe it is not that Europe has that recognition. When they ask me what status you have in the EU, I tell them we are eternal aspirants. Eternal aspirants some laugh, some believe it, but I'm afraid that I have already started to believe that we are eternal aspirants and today my daughter is exactly the age I was at the time when communism fell and I thought the European issue would be matter of months and not years anymore. I am convinced of one thing, as long as I am alive, as Andreoti said, I will not be able to see Albania in the EU. Who is to blame? What happens to us? Is it our fault? We also have our flaws, which were not small, but of course the wink that many European countries have had, we have missed from the EU", said Fevziu.
