Antony Blinken is the sixth American Secretary of State to visit Albania in 33 years of democracy.

In 1991, the first visit was marked with Secretary James Baker, who in his speech said that freedom works and urged the Albanians to continue on the road to democracy.

Baker made it clear that he had not come with a 'Marshall plan' for Albania, and his visit was accompanied by an aid package of 6 million dollars, powdered milk, medicines and medical equipment. This was the first assistance of the United States to Albania.

In 2000, Albania was visited by American Secretary Madeleine Albright.

"As we look forward to a new and brighter future for Southeast Europe, we look to Albania to help lead the way," said the American secretary in the Albanian Parliament.

In 2003, American Secretary Colin Powell visited our country, who described the visit as an act of friendship".

The purpose of his visit to Albania was the signing of the "Adriatic 3" charter, a regional commitment of Albania, Macedonia and Croatia to accelerate NATO membership. In 2012, American Secretary Hillary Clinton visited our country. In her speech to the Parliament of Albania, Clinton emphasized the need for the fight against corruption and cooperation between Albania's political classes. In 2016, Tirana was visited by American Secretary John Kerry, who gave strong messages about the fight against corruption.
