The government held tenders with a contracted value of 129 billion lek (1.3 billion euros) during 2024. Over 2,200 companies were declared winners, but the 10 largest companies received 29% of the contracted value, while the 50 largest companies received 62% of the funds.
Road construction company Gjoka Konstruksion led the list of public procurement contracts during 2024, winning six contracts with a total value of 8.8 billion lek (about 89 million euros), with the largest project being the contract for the rehabilitation of the Fier - Frataj road worth 3.6 billion lek.
The Gjoka company won tenders for road construction and water supply construction. The most expensive project in terms of water supply is the one titled: “Water supply of coastal areas of the Strategic Investment Zones of Draleos, Drimadhes and Dhërmi Phase III”, for which taxpayers are spending about 800 million lekë excluding VAT (about 8 million euros).
The company "Salillari" ranked second with eight contracts worth a total of 4.6 billion lek. The largest contract is titled: Construction of the Elbasan - Papërr road axis Phase I worth 2 billion lek.
The company “Fusha” returned to the top of the contractors’ rankings last year after several years of absence. It won seven contracts with a total value of 4 billion lekë, ranking third. The largest contract is the Elbasan-Qafë-Thanë road expansion (Phase VIII) worth 2.2 billion lekë.
The company BE – IS SH.PK won 11 contracts with a total value of 3.7 billion lek. The largest contract is “Construction of the Papërr – Grykshit Bridge road axis, Phase II” with a value of 2.1 billion lek.
In fifth place was the company Agbes Konstruksion, which won two contracts with a total value of 3.5 billion lek. One contract is titled "Construction of the Papërr - Grykshit Bridge road axis, Phase I" while the other contract concerns the expansion of the Ksamil road.
Geci Company won six procurement procedures with a total value of 3.1 billion lek. The largest contract is “Construction of the Elbasan – Papërr road axis Phase II”.
In seventh place was the company 2 T with six contracts worth a total of 2.9 billion lek. The largest contract is for the "Construction of the Elbasan - Papërr road axis Phase III" worth 2.2 billion lek.
GPG COMPANY won four procurement procedures with a total value of 2.8 billion lek. “Construction of Berat - Ballaban road, Lot 1” with a value of 1.7 billion lek.
The Albstar company was ranked ninth with a single contract, the "Widening of the Elbasan-Qafë-Thanë road (Phase VI)" contract worth 2.3 billion lek.
In tenth place was the company ANK, also with a single contract "Widening the Elbasan - Qafë Thanë road (Phase VII)" worth 2.8 billion lek.
In public sector tenders last year, 2,216 companies were declared winners, but the ten largest companies won 29% of the entire procurement fund, while the 50 largest companies won over 800 million euros in contracts or 62% of the limit fund. / BIRN
