The former member of the Information Authority for the Files of the former State Security, at the same time the representative of the Politically Persecuted class and the well-known poet, Daut Gumeni has commented on the political situation in the country.
In an interview for the "SOT" newspaper, Mr. Gumeni tells how the dark files of the former State Security that contain the names of high-ranking Albanian officials were hidden and who disappeared, while he also talks about the fraud that is being done with the blocking of the ambassador of the USA in Tirana and who is in control of Ilir Meta's fate, according to him.
Focusing on the situation in which the former prime minister Sali Berisha is, the well-known writer Gumeni emphasizes that the head of Reestablishment must give an account before the justice for the atrocities in which he is suspected and accused of being involved.
- Mr. Gumeni, the new American ambassador who would come to Albania has not been approved by the American Senate, what do you think could be the reasons?
It seems to the new American ambassador that they only postponed the approval in the Senate simply for procedural reasons, or more precisely for passing the hearing deadline in the Senate and it has to be heard and approved in a new deadline. All other predictions in our media seem to be the speculations of hallelujahs who see dreams like pancakes falling from the sky...
- How do you see the fate of the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, after the sinking of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha?
The fate of the head of the Freedom Party, after the sinking of his partner, the former president and former prime minister, I do not believe that it depends either on the political weather or on the dice of fortune-tellers apprentices of the oppressors of power, it depends only on the results of the investigations of the depths of reformed justice.
- Is ex-prime minister Sali Berisha a political factor today, what do you think?
The former president and former prime minister of this suffering country seems to have already turned into a former political factor of our great transition, because he is only subject to investigations by the new Justice.
- Berisha continues to give speeches from the balcony of the apartment where he lives, is there anything from his statements that has caught your attention?
Those rants of his from the 'house arrest' attic are some fireworks to give to himself and his fanatical followers, in the hope that they will not dwindle by the day, as is actually happening, but are increasing and will fill the ranks of revolted revolutionaries to once again make the old grandmother a new bride... Because he still cannot believe that he, like all the citizens of this country, must face justice for his atrocities. Those pathetic speeches are simply a well-deserved self-congratulation of the "heavenly" ruler who has confounded the real democratic alternative, the Albanian politics of the long transition and a state and an entire population for more than three decades.
– Should the former State Insurance files be opened and why? Is it true that some associates or members of the former Security, even though they were classified as such by the commission, have been appointed again to high state positions...
It is said that those files were hidden and sent on time to the address requested by the rulers themselves who were reflected in them. Then the way our transitional rulers have acted with the dark files of the State Security and not only, the way the employees in our politics of these thirty-odd years have acted with the national interests of the Albanians and the very mess in which there is gone by the waters of such a policy, it leads you to think that those dark files have not disappeared without a strong reason such as the fear of our rulers with many names that one day they will be discovered as mercenaries of known hostile factors with the national interests of the Albanians, inside and outside the borders of our scattered lands.
- Did Sali Berisha have a file? If there was, why was it never published...
You can ask the ex-ruler himself about this, who gives speeches these January days from the attic of 'house arrest', insisting that even the easiest form of isolation be turned by justice into 'prison arrest'. Whereas the stale game of "open and close" with the files of the dictatorial past, it is now known by everyone that it has served to take and keep power and not to make the necessary transparency of past atrocities.
