DP deputy Eralda Tase spoke about the law for medical students, whom the government forces to work for 5 years in Albania.
She said that from the first moment that this law was proposed, the opposition MPs saw it as unacceptable, adding that the government is not making the right policies with these young people.
According to her, for one year, the interest in choosing medical branches has dropped by 40% as students do not feel motivated.
"The truth is that even we, as members of the opposition, were presented with a bill that was unacceptable. The majority should at least listen to medical students.
The problem of the lack of doctors has not arisen now, it has been for several years, but if this government tried to take this matter seriously for medical students or for all health, a part of the budget would have to go to support these youth. Here I give you statistics, from 2022 to 2023, the desire of young people to study medicine has been 40% less", said MP Tase.
