Analyst Enton Abilekaj, speaking about the results of May 11 and the difficulty of small parties to win mandates, stated on the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV that the gray electorate should be sought in large cities, where businesses and freelance professionals are located who have no political representation and are not associated, and this is the main reason why small parties have difficulty breaking through.
"In Albania, except for the big cities, the electorate is divided into two large groups. Because we have developed political clientelism. Poverty is great and people want political affiliation.
You have to look for the gray electorate in the big cities. Businesses are in these areas. Freelance professionals are in these areas. They have no political representation. They don't associate. This is the main reason why small parties have a hard time breaking through. Because they see that if they are not sure that they will not take power, they will not support it.
The other is that a small party must function as a party. They generally identify with a person who is not elected. What if it is a personal party where interest groups will be represented? We remember the LSI, where people with clientelistic, but also principled interests came together. It functioned as a party, there were forums. Whereas in these parties, representation is non-existent, said Abilekaj.
