The aesthetic clinic blocked a few days ago, which operated in the center of Tirana, turns out to have operated completely illegally for more than a year, causing the state to evasion over 1 million euros and endangering the health of dozens of patients.
This is about the "International Medicare" clinic, part of the "Sante Plus Group" network, where instead of surgeons and licensed doctors, the chef had taken over the management.
During the operation codenamed "Bilanci", Tirana Police forces arrested the only person listed as an administrator, 62-year-old Edmond Zaja, in fact the clinic's chef, who will appear before the Court on Monday for the security measure.
While the two co-shareholders, Bilal Kara, a Turkish citizen and Geriana Arapi, an Albanian, have been declared wanted and are suspected of being abroad. In the clinic's premises, investigators found 100 blocks of untaxed invoices, 27 types of prohibited, expired and contraband medications, used for aesthetic interventions such as botox, fillers and even hair transplants. Payments for patients were made in cash, without invoices, while employees were paid in hand and without insurance. An informal activity, covered with luxury and a modern facade, but which hid behind itself a fraud scheme and danger to life.
One of the main shareholders, Bilal Kara, is not an unknown name. He happens to be the Honorary Consul of North Macedonia in Izmir, the chairman of the Turkey-North Macedonia Business Council at DEIK, and a member of the Albania-Turkey Chamber of Commerce.
He is currently on international wanted list and Albanian authorities are in contact with partners for his location and extradition. The “International Medicare” clinic has been blocked, while investigations continue to fully uncover the network and those truly responsible for this multi-million dollar fraud.
This is not just a case of tax evasion, but a strong alarm about the way dangerous businesses operate in the middle of Tirana, outside of any control, putting public health and the integrity of state institutions at risk. The investigation by the Police and Prosecutor's Office of the capital continues to reveal other scandals about the completely illegal activity of the "International Medicare" aesthetic intervention clinic in the capital. /Shqiptarja.com
