Activist Edlira Çepani commented on the support the US is giving to the Special Prosecution Office.
On Thursday, US envoy VanHorn met with Klodian Braho and Joni Keta, the new leaders of SPAK and BKH. According to Çepan, the US will continue to assist SPAK in targeting the untouchables.
" It is good news that the US is present, from the news that was often said that they were not, but it seems that they are present. Dumani created the legitimacy and power of the institution, and Mr. Braho's task so far is to guarantee sustainability and give an impetus to those who have started, as well as all the new files that are expected very soon. SPAK has done a job that no other institution has done. It has given the message that impunity is no longer a reality. There are files that are opened and cases that are followed, and this is a good message ," said Çepani.
On Thursday, the US Charge d'Affaires, Nancy VanHorn, went to SPAK, where she met with the new heads of SPAK and BKH.
She has decided to speak in the words of Marco Rubio: "We will confront the drug cartels wherever they are."
“ Charge d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn congratulated SPAK’s Chief Special Prosecutor, Klodjan Braho, and BKH Head, Joni Keta, on their new leadership roles, reiterating the United States’ support for SPAK’s efforts in the fight against organized crime and narcotics trafficking. As Secretary Rubio has stated: ‘We will confront drug cartels wherever they are and wherever they operate against the interests of the United States. The President’s primary duty is to ensure the national interest and national security of our people. Together, we stand united in the fight against international crime ,” the US embassy announced.
