2,200 children are reported to be under a protection order in Albania as abused in the family, in street situations and in conflict with the law, among which are minor drug users.
This data was confirmed on the international day of missing children, during the episode "Lost Child" in the podcast "FOL with Anila Hoxha", broadcast on Top Albania Radio.
115 children were reported as abandoned abroad in one of the European countries by one of the parents, 7 of whom were returned.
Being reported as unaccompanied by the Albanian institutions, the countries of the European Union have requested information on the assessment of their families. But as far as children are concerned, appeals judge Fuat Vjerdha finds an increase in court proceedings with citizens accused of sexual abuse of children and their victimization by cybercrimes. Currently, there are 16 missing people on the Interpol list, such as Julian Cela, Bleona Mata, but also minors who were kidnapped by one parent.
Albania is considered a good habitat for civil abductions, where one of the parents in the process of separation leaves together with the children.
The law has placed the Ministry of Justice in an informative role for children who are kidnapped by their parents, and last year 26 such civil processes were held in Albania, where judicial bodies intervened to return the minor to the place where he was born./ TCH
