The Fier Prosecutor's Office has transferred to SPAK the file against citizen ML, who attempted to buy a citizen's vote for the sum of 50 thousand lek (new).
The person was arrested by the police, the Fier Prosecution Office has registered criminal proceedings on the charge of 'active corruption in elections', while the file has been transferred to SPAK for subject matter jurisdiction, given that electoral crimes, including vote buying, are investigated by the Special Prosecution Office.
The case recorded in Lushnje, Fier district, is also the first, at least in flagrante delicto, when a citizen is caught attempting to buy votes, even though we are almost 26 days away from the election day.
The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has registered criminal proceedings no. 485, dated 13.04.2025, for the criminal offense, "Active corruption in elections", provided for by Article 328 of the Criminal Code, based on information received from the Lushnja Police Commissariat.
Following information from the Lushnja Police Commissariat, the Fier Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with the judicial police services of this commissariat, as well as in continuous and effective coordination with the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, Tirana, using proactive investigation methods, have managed to document that citizen ML requested and received citizen MT's identity card in exchange for the promise of an amount of 50,000 (fifty thousand) lek, with the aim of favoring a political entity in the elections.
After carrying out the first investigative actions, the judicial police, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction, Fier, carried out the arrest of the suspect in flagrante delicto.
Subsequently, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has sent to the Court requests for the validation of the arrest and the imposition of a personal security measure against citizen ML, which was approved by the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier.
After completing urgent procedural actions, the Fier Prosecutor's Office has decided to transfer the case to the subject matter jurisdiction of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
