The government does not have a concrete deadline for when normal traffic will be restored on the Librazhd-Përrenjas axis, after the massive landslide that has made the segment impassable. In a press conference, the head of the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH), Ami Kozeli, stated that the road will only be opened after the long-term stability of the terrain and infrastructure is guaranteed.
" The Librazhd-Prrenjas axis is a segment of strategic importance and its return to full function will only take place after we have guaranteed long-term stability of the terrain and infrastructure ," said Kozeli, without giving a final date.
During the statement, the head of the ARA defended the ANK company, which is implementing the works on the new road axis. He emphasized that there has been no interference with the Shkumbi River by the contractor.
" IKMT has inspected the area. There is no violation by the contractor in the collection of inert materials ," said Kozeli.
However, ground footage published in recent days shows interference in the river basin, raising questions about the impact of the works on the situation.
For several days, the Librazhd-Përrenjas axis has remained blocked, significantly hindering movement towards the southeast of the country and creating isolation for the area.
