Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (DP), through his lawyers, has appealed to the High Court against the decision of the Appeals Court of Kosovo, which has imposed on him the security measure of 'obligation to appear' twice a month.
On January 3, Berisha was released from 'house arrest' where he spent almost a year, after the Appeal Court of Criminal Appeals changed this security measure to one of mandatory reporting.
But the democratic leader, in the appeal filed with the Supreme Court, requests the lifting of the security measures, claiming that there is no evidence and facts against him.
Berisha was released on November 27, 2024, after about a year under house arrest, due to accusations of involvement in the “Partizani” dossier.
The former prime minister has been charged with passive corruption, along with his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, who remains under house arrest. Malltezi was initially arrested and spent several weeks in a cell, but his security measure was later changed from prison arrest to house arrest.
