Today, in the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, the trial of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, was held.
During today's session, the Chancellor of the Prosecution of Vlora, Përparim Hoxha, and the Chancellor of the Court of Vlora, Frida Gani, were questioned.
Hoxha stated that the Chancellor has not compiled any letter or document for SPAK or GJKKO regarding the "Beleri" case.
"I don't have access to the protocol or case registers. This function is performed by the chief secretary, who is occasionally assisted by other persons, due to the volume of work. There is no specific employee for the protocol in the Prosecutor's Office of Vlora. As Chancellor, I did not compile any letter or document for SPAK and GJKKO, regarding the Beleri issue. Ready prosecutors are determined by the head of the Prosecutor's Office every month. In case of elections, there are more prosecutors ready, due to the events", said Hoxha.
While Frida Gani has stated that the secret files from the Prosecutor's Office are sealed in an envelope, marked in the register and then sent as an unopened envelope to the judge who is ready.
"The chancellor does not deal with registers or protocols, the chief secretariat deals with these. The secret files from the Prosecutor's Office come sealed in an envelope, it is marked in the register and then the unopened envelope is sent to the judge who is ready. For urgent actions, I don't know if the administration has gone outside the official schedule 08:00-16:00", said Gani.
The hearing took place today after the Special Court of Appeal postponed yesterday the hearing of Fredi Beleri's request for special permission to be sworn in as mayor.
In yesterday's session, Beler's lawyers requested the dismissal of the sole judge Daniela Shirka, on the grounds that the body should have three members and not one.
Through the lawyers, but also personally, Beleri requested the change of the decision of the first instance, which rejected the request for a special permit from the prison.
